Harry’s Halloween magic in town centre

The people of Llanelli were spellbound last week as Harry Potter lookalikes arrived in Stepney Square for Ymlaen Llanelli’s Halloween extravaganza. Harry, Ron and Hermione lookalikes met children and adults alike on Tuesday 29th October after riding into town in a replica of the Weasley’s flying car, flanked by Dumbledore and a dementor guard.

A stunning replica of Hogwarts wowed the crowds; made completely out of recycled materials, it took local crafter Christine Clarke six months to create from scratch.

Eventgoers also had the chance to see Harry and friends’ beloved pet owls up close in a display from West Wales Falconry.

Chair of Ymlaen Llanelli, Lesley Richards, said it was a great day: “There were so many children dressed up as their favourite characters and it was so lovely to see. Everyone had a magical time – we love putting on these children’s events and we’re glad that the kids love them too!”

At the event were Family Housing and the Wallich, who joined forces to give out 100 free packed lunches and pairs of gloves to children as part of Eradication of Poverty Day.

There were also arts and crafts including a special wand-making table organised by Fusion, as well as face painting and balloon modelling. Harry and Hermione even joined in the fun and took a turn on the children’s ride with some young witches and wizard.
