Caredig takes the safety of our tenants extremely seriously. It is very important that if you live in a property owned by us you clearly understand what to do should a fire break out in your home or in the block where you live. This page gives you a step by step guide on fire safety in your home.
IMPORTANT - you should be able to safely and efficiently evacuate your home if a fire breaks out. If you have mobility issues, hearing or sight impairment or any issues that would prevent you from getting out in the event of a fire, you must contact your Housing Officer immediately on 0800 0213930. We will be able to put measures in place to help protect you or your family.
Different types of accommodation have specific fire evacuation plans. Click on the accommodation type you live in below to find out what yours is.
We also have a number of schemes designed for people over 55 and there is different Fire safety advice depending on where you live. Please take a look below.
All of our homes have smoke alarms. Get into the habit of testing your smoke alarm regularly to make sure they are working and so that all members of your family are familiar with the sound.
It's a good idea to make a fire escape plan so that everyone in your home knows how to get out in an emergency. You may also wish to choose a 'safe room' with a window where you can wait to be rescued and from where you can call the fire service.
The fire service offers a free fire safety check and advice. To book your free check call 0800 169 1234.
If you live in a block of apartments you will be given an evacuation plan which you should follow if the alarms are sounded. Do not use the lift or you could be trapped.
Regular Fire Risk Assessments are carried out in all Properties with Communal areas. Click on the attachment to see the Schedule of Risk Assessments and when they are undertaken.
