Family Housing Association has been named as one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK in the prestigious ‘Times Top 100’ list.
The annual list, now in its 18th year, ranks the top companies and organisations throughout the UK to work for based on the feedback of their employees. In 2018, 799 organisations registered to take part and the views of over 250,000 employees were shared.
The results of the survey provided by the Best Companies Index (BCI) showed that we have improved our staff satisfaction levels for all workplace factors, compared to our 2017 results. Leadership saw the biggest engagement factor increase of 7% compared with an average Best Companies increase of 2.6%. The results also show that 84% of our staff agreed that they felt their manager cared about them as an individual, 86% of staff agreed that people who worked within their team would go out of their way to help them and 70% of staff agreed that work didn’t interfere with their responsibilities at home.
The staff retention rates within our organisation are also impressive, with over 50% of the 256 staff members having worked at Family Housing for five years or longer.

We are also a ‘Time to Change’ employer, encouraging our staff to openly discuss mental health issues to help tackle the stigma and discrimination associated with it.”
As well as being named on the Top 100 list, Family Housing has also received the ‘Ones to Watch’ accreditation, a coveted status awarded to organisations where workplace engagement shows promising signs for the future. Achieving this accreditation requires a Best Companies index score of at least 65% and reflects organisations with good levels of workplace engagement.
