New Homes for Family Housing Tenants built by Castell Group Ltd

The construction of brand new homes for Family Housing tenants is well under way in Treboeth!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Castell Group Ltd who have collaborated with us on this project from the early stages.

Jon Harvey, Head of Development at Family Housing: “Despite being slightly behind due to COVID-19 and material supply issues, the seamless teamwork and collaboration between Family Housing and Castell Group Ltd has meant that we are on track to be finished by mid-July. There’s still minor works to be completed but thanks to everyone’s hard work, the development is shaping up to be a superb place for tenants to live.”

“We’ve also built an extremely good working relationship with Castell Group Ltd – this is the first time we’ve worked with them and we’re already looking forward to working with them on future projects.”

The development of this project is part-funded by the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant, and the flats are being built to the Welsh Government’s Design Quality Requirements (DQR).

They have been designed to achieve the highest energy efficiency rating (EPC A) which will save tenants money on their fuel bills. All of the flats are fitted with electric heating rather than gas, and have solar PV panels on the roof to promote decarbonisation and decrease our carbon footprint!

Given the move to more home working, we have also installed super fast fibre broadband connections (FTTP) to ensure high quality digital connectivity.

All nine flats have been provisionally allocated under a local lettings policy. Four were allocated nominations from the Swansea Council, three to people on our waiting list, and two to internal transfers. Individuals with a medical or mobility need have been prioritised for allocation of the ground floor flats which have wet rooms instead of baths.

We are thoroughly looking forward to seeing the hard work of Castell Group Ltd and our Development team making a difference in our community.
