In 2019, we began our journey to become more trauma-informed in the way we deliver services and provide support for tenants, service users and staff.
A trauma-informed approach is one which recognises the impact of trauma in all areas of an individual’s life. Increasingly, trauma-informed is being seen as less of a list of ways to do things differently, but instead it is a way of being. In a service delivery context, it centres safety, reliability, trustworthiness, choice and agency.
Caredig collaborated with Platform, the Welsh lead organisation for the New System Alliance (a group of organisations and individuals who have gathered together to help drive system change) who were asked to investigate staff and tenant experiences of this approach.
