Homes: For Every Future — Supporting CHC’s Call to End Wales’ Housing Emergency

This morning, Community Housing Cymru (CHC) launched its new Senedd election manifesto, Homes: for every future, highlighted by Nation Cymru. Their campaign sets out a clear and vital ambition: calling on all political parties to commit to ending Wales’ housing emergency.

It’s a bold message — and an essential one.

Across Wales, thousands of people are living with the uncertainty and instability of temporary accommodation. Today, more than 2,500 children don’t have a secure place to do their homework, play, or simply feel at home. Almost 11,000 people in total are experiencing the same challenges, facing daily stress and worry as they navigate life without a permanent home.

But as CHC’s campaign reminds us: it doesn’t have to be this way.

Housing associations have already proven what’s possible. During this Senedd term alone, we have delivered 75% of all new social homes built in Wales — real homes that offer safety, stability, and hope.

At Caredig, we see every day how secure, affordable housing changes lives. A good home supports wellbeing, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities for people of all ages. That’s why we welcome this manifesto and the bold steps it calls for.

CHC is urging the next Welsh Government to:
✨ Build more homes
✨ Build better homes
✨ Create healthier, fairer places for everyone

These goals reflect the values we believe in — and the future we want to help create.

👏 A huge well done to everyone involved in driving this work forward.
Together, with shared ambition and commitment, we can make meaningful change and build a Wales where everyone has a safe place to call home.
