Caredig Officially Opens New Homes at Frederick Place in Llansamlet, Swansea
Caredig, a Swansea-based housing association, is proud to announce the official opening of 15 brand-new homes at Frederick Place, Llansamlet. This latest development marks a significant step in Caredig’s mission to create strong, vibrant, and resilient communities where residents can live active, independent, and fulfilling lives in a safe environment.
The homes, which residents have recently moved into, feature a range of modern amenities designed to support sustainable living. These include on-site parking, solar panels, and bike storage facilities—helping to promote greener lifestyles while providing high-quality housing for the community.
Marcia Sinfield, CEO of Caredig, said, “We are delighted to have officially opened another development in Swansea. Providing more homes that are not just houses but also contributing to the thriving communities around us is a key part of our vision.”
The development has fostered strong ties with the local community through collaborative events leading up to its completion. Local partnerships with Lon Las Primary School and Peniel Green Care Home resulted in unique artwork now proudly displayed on-site. In addition, the Lon Las school choir performed during the opening ceremony, showcasing their talent.
Caredig staff were particularly moved when a resident from the care home visited the site to see the artwork and celebrate the community spirit that embodies the project.
A special thank you goes out to Castell Group, who partnered with Caredig on the development, and to local councillor Matthew Jones, who officially cut the red ribbon alongside CEO Marcia Sinfield.
Councillor Matthew Jones remarked, “Another fantastic development in Llansamlet by Caredig and Castell Group. It is essential that we have these developments within Swansea and the local areas giving the current housing crisis. It is brilliant to see the high spec of energy efficiency in the new build, which will help residents with their bills. It’s warming to see strong collaboration with the community and the singing from the Lon Lan school Choir was amazing”
The Frederick Place development continues Caredig’s legacy of delivering quality housing that enhances Swansea’s communities, creating lasting positive impacts for both current and future generations. Our thanks to Welsh Government and Swansea Council for their support for the scheme.
