Congratulations to Jo Ashford, who has been shortlisted for the award Tenant of the Year at the TPAS Good Practice Awards 2023!
Jo was nominated for her involvement, dedication, contributing to the community and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Jo has been involved with tenant engagement for over 10 years. Driving the formal participation to ensure all tenant voices are heard and influencing service delivery and policy decisions. She is a founder member and co-chair of the The Hub, the Caredig Reviewers Group (scrutiny) and is a familiar face to all the staff at Caredig and Board members alike. Jo takes the lead on service delivery workstreams and focus groups and is often on site at various community events promoting how to Get Involved. When Covid hit, she was proactive and undertook training to become more digitally skilled and passing those skills onto others, creating virtual coffee groups and even undertaking a scrutiny review during lockdown.
The dedication she has, to do more for the community is inspiring. Her work with the residents in her own building to bring them all together has had such a positive impact on wellbeing and tackling social isolation. From weekly shopping trips and coffee clubs and Jo has even been given a licence to operate the community transport bus so all residents can enjoy day trips and meals out.
Jo is always willing to see things from different perspectives and improve the services we provide at Caredig. When she was part of the scrutiny group, reviewing our communication to tenants, she undertook training on how people with autism, dyslexia and other diverse needs communicate and was able to advise us accordingly.
The National TPAS Cymru Good Practice Awards 2023 is the ultimate platform to share and celebrate the incredible work we do with our customers in our communities, but for Jo to be recognised makes us even prouder as an organisation.
Best of luck Jo from us all a Caredig.
The winners of the National TPAS Cymru Good Practice Awards will be announced at a prestigious ceremony at the Leonardo Hotel Cardiff –on the evening of Wednesday 5th July.
